No More Resolutions
I stopped doing resolutions a long time ago. Over the years, I began to adopt a word of the year. While I do think you can decide to make a fresh start any time of the year, there is something about welcoming the new year in a meaningful way. For me, this means having my 2024 word of the year.
A word of the year is a simple word that guides me on how I decide to show up for the next twelve months. It’s not about me needing fixing. It’s not about reinventing myself. It’s about capturing what this year means for me and creating more intentional moments in my actions and experiences.
My 2024 Word of The Year: FREE
Choosing my 2024 word of the year is personal and reflective. The word “FREE” resonates with me on multiple levels. In a world that often feels bound by expectations, routines, and obligations, the quest for freedom takes on profound significance.
Furthermore, being ‘FREE’ represents a release from constraints; whether they be mental, emotional, or physical. It’s about breaking away from self-imposed limitations and societal pressures, granting oneself permission to explore uncharted territories and embrace newfound possibilities.
Embracing freedom begins with a mindset. By intentionally choosing my 2024 word of the year, I commit to liberating my thoughts from the shackles of self-doubt, fear, and lack. The word “free” reminds me to challenge negative narratives and cultivate a mindset that fosters creativity, resilience, and a sense of limitless potential.
What Does It Mean To Be ‘FREE’?
On an emotional level, being free involves letting go of past grievances and embracing forgiveness – for myself and others. I free myself of energies that no longer serve me. By freeing myself from the weight of resentment and disappointments, I open the door to healing and create space for joy and meaningful connections.
Physically, the word “FREE” reminds me to prioritize my health and well-being. It prompts me to listen to my body, engage in activities that bring me joy, and release habits that no longer serve me. It’s about reclaiming my physical self. This includes honoring and treating my body with all the love it deserves. It’s necessary to make time for rest and find fun ways to move my body.
My 2024 word of the year also extends to relationships. This means fostering connections that empower rather than confine. I want to surround myself with individuals who support and uplift. By freeing myself from relationships that no longer uplift me, I create room for authentic connections that align with my values and aspirations.
It’s About The Journey
In the quest for life, being FREE is about authenticity. It’s about living in alignment with my true self. It’s for pursuing passions and dreams without reservation. This year, I embark on a journey to redefine success on my terms, unburdened by external expectations. It’s about taking risks, making unconventional decisions, and tapping into my gifts to put my work into the world.
As I embrace ‘FREE’ as my 2024 word of the year, I am mindful that this isn’t just a fleeting thought. It’s a guiding principle woven into the fabric of my daily existence. It’s an affirmation of my right to live authentically, unapologetically, and in a way that celebrates the boundless possibilities that come with the pursuit of freedom. Here’s to a year of liberation, self-discovery, and the unwavering pursuit of all that sets my spirit free.
In love and courage,
